TEXAS TROPHY DEER HUNTS
ARCHERY and GUN
Dear Sportsman,
I would like personally thank you for your interest in our quality wildlife
program at The White Mesa Ranch. Our goal is to provide you with the
ultimate hunt, with a variety of options to be successful. Although
we have a very high success ratio, we cannot guarantee a kill; but I
can assure you that most hunters get multiple opportunities during their
stay. This is a great place to hunt and I am sure you will be impressed
with the natural beauty of the region. You simply will not find a better
quality hunt for your money in Texas!
Sincerely,
Gary L. Cahill

Ranch Information:
The
ranch is located in Southwest Texas in Crockett County. The terrain
is semi Mountainous Mesa country. The region has the characteristics
of South Texas Brush Country and the beauty of the Texas Hill country.
Crockett County has the highest deer population in the state of Texas
according to Texas Parks and Wildlife surveys. Our managed deer herd
has a 1- doe to 1-buck ratio that is ideal to produce the highest quality
deer possible. Besides the excellent Whitetail population, the ranch
has an abundance of Quail, Doves, Wild Turkey, and some Spanish Goats.
There are numerous varmints that inhabit the ranch; these include Javelina,
Gary Fox, Bobcat, and an occasional Mountain Lion. You’ll find this
is really a special place to hunt.
What It Takes to Produce Trophy Whitetails:
Trophy deer take time; require a superb habitat,
and year-round management. To insure the wildlife reach their maximum
potential, the ranch is void of livestock. This enables the deer to
receive the highest quality natural feed available. In addition, supplemental
high-protein feed is supplied to achieve the highest possible results.
Trophy animals are a direct by-product of good genetics, nutrition,
and proper age. Our policy is not to harvest immature animals; therefore
we have an eight-point minimum for All Trophy Bucks. Large portions
of these Trophy Bucks are now in the 4 ˝ to 5 ˝ year old age class;
these deer normally score between 125-160 B and C. They usually have
18-24 inch spreads.

White Mesa Ranch Archery Hunts
My archery hunts are conducted on my 3,300-acre
game managed ranch in Southwest Texas. Elevated stands are provided
and we have over 30 different locations scattered about the ranch. Normal
archery camps number from 8 to 12 hunters at a time. My facilities can
accommodate up to 20; they have 6 bathrooms and showers. Cleaning facilities
for your game with walk-in coolers are provided.
The
ranch has been under game management for over 25 years. Each archery
stand is fed daily and hunter can expect to see from 10 to 30 deer at
most locations per day. The normal shots range from 15 to 30 yards.
In addition to the excellent Whitetail populations, the ranch has an
abundance of Quail, Doves, and Wild Turkey. There are numerous varmints
that also inhabit the ranch; these include Javelina, Fox, Bobcat, and
Mountain Lion. (SO, BRING PLENTY OF ARROWS!!!) There is superb Dove
hunting in specified areas, along with excellent Bass fishing on the
Pecos River to give the sportsman additional options during their stay.
(PACK YOUR SHOTGUN AND ROD!!!)
We are totally committed to providing you with the
ultimate hunt; although we do not guarantee a kill, most hunters get
multiple opportunities during their stay. In staying within the guidelines
of all reputable outfitters, any animal killed or wounded (whether found
or not) is considered a taken animal.

TEXAS TROPHY RIFLE HUNTS
My rifle hunts start in early December and
goes to early January. Each of my rifle camps consists of 6 to 8 hunters.
The first week of December to the first week of January is prime time
because of rutting activity. This is the best time to rattle in a real
trophy or see numerous bucks from elevated points overlooking canyons.
We have several options to be successful due to the 500 ft. topography
changes of the ranch. I recommend each hunter site their rifles in at
200 yards; most shots are less than 150 yards, but shots to 300 yards
are possible.
You will find we are committed to providing you the
ultimate hunt; although we do not guarantee a kill, we are 80% successful
on all our rifle hunts. Our high success is due to hunting at the right
times and not putting excessive pressure on the game!! All my hunts
are semi-guided with transportation, elevated blinds, and feeders provided.
Fully guided hunts can be arranged at an additional fee.
Exclusive Rifle hunts can be
arranged with a 6-gun minimum.
